So, just recently I managed to buy a product that I have wanted for a very long time. The Urban Decay Naked Palette. I went to France for the day and decided in Sephora that I just had to get it. For me there wasn't a big struggle when choosing between the Naked 1 and 2, I had always wanted the Naked 1, so that was that. I love it so much. It became the eye shadow palette that I use every day. My favourite colours are half baked, sidecar and buck. Buck is a very simple matte brown, but it is so good for your crease. Also this palette is quite neutral, which means you can wear it as your everyday look.
I also have the sleek storm palette. I bought this a long time before the naked palette, and had been using it occasionally, but no where as near as much as I use the naked palette. it is a good palette, full of perfect colours to use day to day.
I thought that because these palettes are quite similar it would be nice to compare them. I have been neglecting my blog for a while, so I thought that now would be a good time to write a new post.
Firstly I'll list the colours that are very similar to each other.
It is hard to do because sleek palettes don't have names for their shadows, but I will insert a picture here. The top row will be 1-6 starting from the left and the bottom row will be 7-12
Gunmetal - 8
Toasted - 5
Naked - 3
Buck - 11 (11 is a bit darker)
Creep - 10 (slightly similar)
Half Baked - 1 and 4
Virgin - 2
I would also say that 7 is similar to smog and darkhorse.
So there you have it.
Now onto the comparison
Colours - In each palette there are 12 colours. Some similar, some different. Both palettes contain neutral colours.
Price - The sleek palette costs £7.99 and the Naked palette is £36
Bonus Items - The Naked palette comes with bonus items - a good karma brush (which I really like) and a mini primer potion. I love the primer potion and I have already bought a full size for when my small one runs out.
The sleek palette comes with a normal eye shadow sponge brush. It was perfectly ok, that is until it fell of one end. It was however a lot better than the normal, tiny sponge brushes.
Packaging - The sleek palette packaging has sort of fallen apart for me. The lid has come of the little hinges and now it takes a lot of effort to close it. The Naked palette does not have the most practical packaging but I find that if I need to put it in my bag or take it on holiday I simply tie a few hair bobbles at the ends which really helps.
My opinion - IN my opinion the naked palette is worth the money. Yes it is £36 but yes it does live up to very high standards. It is amazing. With the sleek palette, I suppose I was expecting more. I would buy another palette from sleek but for me it doesn't really compare the the naked palette. The pigmentation is very good and the colours are lovely for a drugstore eye shadow palette but spending a bit more gets you a very lovely palette.
So that's it guys. Please tell me what you think and follow this blog.
I also recently purchased the Naked 2 after I fell in love with the naked 1. As well as the UD book of shadows - New york , which was on offer a couple of weeks ago at the airport. If you would like some reviews of those, or an in depth review of the naked 1 please let me know. Thanks for reading
